Dispersion Pits

Dispersion Pits

Dispersion pits are a great option when there is no safe area to direct excess water runoff from downspout extensions,  Swales  or French Drains . They can be made several different ways with anything from a big pit of gravel to a prefabricated seepage pit (Flo-Well). We recently installed 2 of the prefabricated pits up in Platte City.

First, we dug a large pit to fit the Flo-Well. The ones we use hold up to 50 gallons, so they need a nice sized hole to fit in!
The actual pit.  Holes are punched out of the side to allow water to slowly seep into the surrounding area without causing flooding.
The Flo-Well is surrounded by gravel to help control the water flow. Then topped by dirt and grass seed (or sod). Once the grass grows back, you can't even tell what's there!
